Three Branches of Government

There are three branches of government, legislative, executive and judicial.

-Legislative branch is made up of the Congress and government agencies. Article 1 of the Congress established this branch and gave Congress the power to make laws. The Congress is divided into two parts, the House of Representatives and the Senate.

-Executive Branch is in charge of making sure that the laws of the United States are obeyed. The President of the United States is the head of the executive branch. This branch consists of the President, Vice President, Cabinet members and heads of independent agencies.

-Judicial branch is made up of the court system. The Supreme Court is the highest court. Article 3 of the Constitution established this Court and all other Federal courts were created by Congress. Courts have the ability to decide arguments about the meaning of laws, how they are applied, and wether they break the rules of the Constitution.
